In-Venue Imaging Technology Offers Unique Fan-Engagement and Data Collection Vehicle

SAN DIEGO, CA – May 28, 2015 – STAPLES Center and Fanpics have announced a partnership that will bring the benefits of Fanpics’ imaging technology to Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Kings fans, beginning with the home games of both teams this fall.

“We are always seeking methods to enhance the entertainment value of our overall in- venue, game-day experience, and Fanpics provides us with a very innovative way to do just that,” said Lee Zeidman, President, STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE. “At the same time, the system offers significant value for ongoing communication and marketing to our guests through data from fans using the platform and sharing their Fanpics photos.”

Fanpics provides STAPLES Center with a truly state-of-the-art technology that bridges the gap between the in-stadium and social media realms. Fanpics installs its proprietary camera technology into venues to capture every fan’s reaction to the big moments at theevent. These photos are used to produce a personalized story for each fan that can be shared instantly with friends and followers. Fanpics represents a totally unique fan- engagement platform, with benefits extending into ongoing data collection and unique marketing initiatives.

“We are always seeking methods to enhance the entertainment value of our overall in- venue, game-day experience, and Fanpics provides us with a very innovative way to dojust that,” said Lee Zeidman, President, STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE. “At the same time, the system offers significant value for ongoing communication and marketing to our guests through data from fans using the platform and sharing their Fanpics photos.”

The Fanpics platform is accessed via the Fanpics app. Fans simply enter their seat number into the app, during or after the game to instantly access and share photos. For each image, meta-data is added to display the context behind each moment, such as the score, time and description of the play. Alongside Fanpics content, curated images of game action are integrated from social properties to provide additional visual context, creating a memorable story for each fan’s game-day experience.

With installation, camera calibration and seat indexing complete, Fanpics technology will generate up to 1 million images per game, while delivering photos to a fan’s phone in as little as 30 seconds after being captured. The Fanpics system is almost entirely run by automated robotics, needing just one operator to trigger all 12 recently installed cameras from a web browser to simultaneously capture photos.

In early 2014, an initial pilot at San Diego State University basketball games was an overwhelming success, commanding over 20 percent audience use. Shortly thereafter, Fanpics partnered with StubHub Center and the MLS Champions, the LA Galaxy who also experienced success with the platform during LA Galaxy games. With the addition of Clippers and Kings games at STAPLES Center, Fanpics significantly expands on its partnership with AEG, owner and operator of both StubHub Center and STAPLES Center.

“The positive results we experienced through our initial partnership with Fanpics and LA Galaxy at StubHub Center gave us the confidence to expand the partnership to STAPLES Center,” said Dan Beckerman, CEO and President of AEG. “We’re excited about increasing value for our fans at games, and improving our ongoing efforts to market to our fans in ways that are truly authentic and valuable to them.”

“We’re essentially automating the creation of a new type of sports media, one that is emotional, personalized, and shareable” said Will Dickinson, Co-Founder and CEO of Fanpics, “Even for those outside the event, there’s a huge opportunity in transporting them inside the experience – current content and platforms leave much to be desired and we have ideas of how to change that. Our primary focus is on growth and we believe the extension of our relationship with AEG will play a significant role in our ongoing development.”

The Fanpics app can be downloaded for free for both Apple and Android phones, it is also available on the web. For more information, visit www.Fanpics.com.
