AEG and BET Team Up to Give Back to Los Angeles Community

AEG and BET partner with TreePeople for annual service day in conjunction with BET Experience at L.A. LIVE and the BET Awards

LOS ANGELES (June 23, 2017) –  Earlier this week, AEG and BET teamed up with TreePeople, an environmental non-profit organization, to provide tree care throughout Griffith Park in Los Angeles for an annual joint community service day leading up the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE and the BET Awards on Sunday, June 25 at Microsoft Theater.

Employees from both organizations gathered at the Bette Davis Picnic Area in Griffith Park to provide tree care and restoration to more than 40 trees throughout the day. Employees built water basins, pulled weeds, watered trees, spread mulch and adjusted tree stakes and ties to ensure straight tree growth.

“We always look forward to our annual service project with BET. Giving back is an important part of who we are at AEG, and we have been committed to making a positive impact since the inception of the BET Experience,” said Melisa Sterner, Community Affairs Manager, AEG.

This is the 5th year in which AEG has partnered with BET during the BET Experience week to participate in a community service project. Previous joint community service projects have featured volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, All Peoples Community Center and the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center.

"We love giving back to the Los Angeles community each year as part of the BET Experience," said Nneka Norville, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at BET Networks. "TreePeople and AEG are wonderful partners in this year's efforts."

TreePeople is an environmental non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire, engage, and support people to take personal responsibility for the urban environment, making it safe, healthy, fun, and sustainable and to share their process as a model for the world.
