LA Galaxy Hosts Pride Night With a Home Match Against Austin FC
AEG’s LA Galaxy hosted Pride Night on May 29 when the club played Austin FC at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Prior to kickoff, the team warmed up in adidas rainbow colored Pride warm-up tops, which were auctioned off through the LA Galaxy Foundation. The National Anthem was performed by Sam Tsui and Casey Breves, avid supporters of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, one of the largest providers of programs and services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Los Angeles.
Pride Night also featured various elements that highlighted the club’s partnership with the Los Angeles LGBT Center during the match, including a Center employee as the Hero of the Match. A special Pride Night ticket package was available, offering fans a ticket to the game and an exclusive Pride Night mini scarf. Proceeds from the LA Galaxy Pride Night ticket package were also donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
In 2014, the LA Galaxy hosted its first Pride Night at Dignity Health Sports Park, starting the tradition that has led to celebrating the LGBTQ community annually, marking one of the longest consecutive Pride Night celebrations hosted by a professional sports team.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, the Los Angeles LGBT Center has cared for, championed and celebrated LGBT individuals and families in Los Angeles and beyond since 1969. Today the Center's nearly 700 employees provide services for more LGBT people than any other organization in the world, offering programs, services and global advocacy that span four broad categories: Health, Social Services and Housing, Culture and Education, Leadership and Advocacy. We are an unstoppable force in the fight against bigotry and the struggle to build a better world; a world in which LGBT people can be healthy, equal and complete members of society.
