STAPLES Center Announces New Celebrity Chef

STAPLES CENTER ANNOUNCES NEW CELEBRITY CHEF PARTNERSHIP WITH NATIVE ANGELENO RAY GARCIA AND HIS BS TAQUERIA CONCEPT

Los Angeles, Calif. (March 18, 2016) – STAPLES Center and their partners at Levy Restaurants have partnered with renown restaurant owner/chef Ray Garcia to create and launch his signature BS Taqueria at the world famous sports and entertainment arena. Since launching a program dedicated to redefining the food culture and offerings in 2014, STAPLES Center has added such respected as Ludo Lefebvre and Josiah Citrin to their roster of resident chefs.

The brand new concession stand and concept will draw upon Garcia’s his culinary inspiration from the city’s rich culture, Southern California’s produce, and his classic training. As chef and owner of Broken Spanish and BS Taqueria (both opened in downtown Los Angeles in 2015), he incorporates all of these things cooking bright, bold, and ingredient-driven food that expresses a Mexican-American narrative. For this, he, his team and both restaurants have received national recognition and overwhelming hometown support – in a city that has finally drawn critical focus and praise on an international level. Most notably, he was recognized by Esquire magazine as Chef of the Year, with both restaurants earning a spot on many “Best of the Year” lists locally and nationally.

“We could not be more excited to announce our partnership with Ray Garcia and bringing BS Taqueria to STAPLES Center for our nearly four million guests that visit the arena annually,” said Lee Zeidman, President, STAPLES Center. “Fans expect more when they come to an event now, and that includes have a variety of food options to choose from. We cannot wait for our fans to try the new menu offerings at BS Taqueria.”

"As an L.A. Native, opening a BS Taqueria at STAPLES Center is like a childhood dream come true," said Ray Garcia. "I am excited about the partnership and look forward to bringing our food to the millions of hungry fans who visit the arena every year."

Chef Garcia becomes the third joint celebrity to bring their concept to STAPLES Center, joining Chef Ludo Lefebvre with his LudoBird fried chicken concept and Chef Josiah Citrin and his Dave’s Doghouse concept whichelevates the classic hot dog by using the best all-beef hot dogs and specially prepared dough for the signature buttered and grilled buns.
