Job Summary
The Manager Production is responsible for advancing and managing all production-related aspects of assigned events and shows. This role leads the production team in developing and executing comprehensive event plans that align with contractual requirements and production objectives. The Production Manager oversees show budgets, tracks and monitors expenses to ensure financial accountability, and ensures that all production, venue, and artist requirements are met. This position plays a critical role in delivering successful events by coordinating resources, both internally and external, managing logistics, and maintaining a high standard of execution and client satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary technical contact/liaison for the venue. Assist all parties in determining production capabilities and estimating show costs for each event.
- Advance and coordinate all technical aspects of events including artist/client logistics, production rentals, stage labor, parking, runners, security, hospitality needs and preparation of day of show schedule.
- Advance all aspects within the terms and budget parameters of artist/client contract. Negotiate solutions to obstacles ensuring contract and budget adherence. Track/document all production expenses.
- Communicate the advance information in a timely manner to all personnel, vendors, and artist contacts, confirming all information and instructions are accurate and understood.
- Oversee day of show production from load in through load out. Ensure quality operation and preparedness from all production departments. Resolve production issues as they arise. Direct typical day of show operations such as hospitality fulfillment, security meetings, guest list. Maintain the production schedule and run of show. Supervise production staff and ensure appropriate breaks and meals are taken in accordance with local rules. Prepare/present all production expenses for settlement.
- May be responsible for show settlement after the show has concluded. Makes sure that artist(s) are paid accordingly. The Production Manager will also close out the show and submit all pertinent information to accounting.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring and training of production staff as required, Supervise, manage, and evaluate production staff, including time and attendance, task management and conflict resolution. Determine staffing needs for each production and schedule accordingly. Review, approve and submit payroll.
- Maintain and safeguard the technical assets of the venue through the development and implementation of routine preventative maintenance schedules and inventories.
- May be responsible for production management/promoter representation at other locations, venues, or projects as directed.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree (4‑year) in a related field
- 4–6 years of related professional experience
- Experience interpreting event contracts and developing accurate production budgets
- Prior experience in the music industry
- Working knowledge of technical aspects of concert and live event production
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve logistical and technical challenges, including staging, lighting, and sound
- Strong ability to create, manage, and maintain event production budgets
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to learn additional business systems
- Previous management experience with an emphasis on conflict resolution and team leadership
- Performs well under pressure and thrives in fast‑paced environments
- Highly flexible and able to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Payscale: $71,477.46- $90,000.00
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
