JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Manager Community Relations & Kings Care Foundation leads end-to-end implementations of the department's signature programs - We Are All Kings Community and Diversity and Inclusion programming and Kings Green sustainability platform. This role will develop and grow partnerships with local organizations and community groups with the underlying goal of enhancing Heritage and other theme nights. The incumbent will work cross-functionally to plan key organizational and foundation events - LA Kings 5K, Golf Tournament, Festival and more - and co-sponsored events with Foundation partners. This role will also work to integrate and support Kings players and wives charitable ambitions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage signature programs and develop meaningful partnerships among key demographic groups
- Develop activations and deep community partnerships with respect to LGBTQIA+, AAPI, Black and Brown communities.
- Grow the team’s sustainability platform in each of its three key facets: arena operations, community programs and fan engagement.
- Ensure execution of contractual elements of sponsorship deal tied to signature programs
- Serve as point of contact for NHL and spearhead initiatives including Hockey Fights Cancer, Pride, NHL Green, Salute To Service and all relatable Kings programming.
- Work with the Sr. Director Community Relations on logistics, sales, marketing, and on-site execution for all fundraising events including a golf tournament, fan and food festivals, dinners and more for 1-5,000 people. Maximize net revenue on all fundraisers by minimizing expenses through donations, strategic budgeting and diligent project management.
- In partnership with the Sr. Director Community Relations, strategically develop plan for achieving fundraising goals through multiple revenue sources. including but not limited to specialty items, silent auctions, Bailey’s Buddies and events.
- Serve as department point of contact for AEG Community Affairs and NHL. Provide regular updates and ensure LA Kings are represented appropriately at meetings and events. Carry out initiatives in accordance with company and league standards and best practices.
- Develop and lead Community Relations and Foundation projects and programs to enhance value and visibility both internally and externally. Focus areas include youth wellness, sustainability, advocacy and inclusion. Grow and manage partnerships with local organizations and community groups through year-round engagements with Foundation partners including CHLA, YMCA, DCLA and align community and team partners on cause-marketing initiatives.
- Serve on Kings Care Foundation Board and create impact reports as part of annual recaps for executives, board members and key stakeholders.
- Oversee updates and content management for the LA Kings website. Write and review recaps of programs, events, and appearances, and provide regular updates to AEG Connect.
- Work closely LA Kings players, wives and LA Kings alumni engaging them around Kings Community and Hockey Development programs
- Train, develop and oversee the the Community relations specialist and KCF assistant and provide guidance on their weekly/daily needs.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The Manager Community Relations must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:
- Ability to follow through, meet tight deadlines, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); and ability to learn required business systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with various audiences internally and externally.
- Must be consistent, punctual, and reliable with the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Strong knowledge of community fundraising protocols
- Must be a team player with a commitment to relationship building
- Motivated and creative self-starter with the ability to adapt and prioritize in rapidly changing situations
- Ability to train, schedule and supervise direct reports
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education:
- BA/BS Degree (4-year)
Experience:
- 4-6 years of related work experience
- Experience working in community relations for a sports team or live events experience
Payscale: $71,000 - $90,000
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
