Job Summary
The LA Galaxy Academy Coach Goalkeeper is responsible for leading the development of all goalkeepers within the LA Galaxy Academy by designing and delivering high quality training sessions, supporting match preparation and performance, and ensuring alignment with the club's player development philosophy. This role collaborates closely with Academy coaches and staff, contributes to multi disciplinary meetings, and plays a key role in advancing the long term evolution of the Academy's goalkeeping pathway.

Essential Functions

  • Lead all U15–U18 Academy goalkeeping training sessions, including planning with team coaches, organizing session design, managing on field setup, and conducting video review to support goalkeeper development and alignment with Academy methodology.
  • Oversee U15–U18 goalkeepers on matchdays, providing warmups, in game coaching, set piece organization, and post-match feedback to support performance and learning objectives.
  • Conduct video analysis sessions focused on goalkeeping fundamentals, club principles, tactical understanding, and game preparation to reinforce individual and team development goals.
  • Lead Individual Development Meetings with each goalkeeper and their family to communicate progress updates, development plans, and performance expectations for all U13–U18 goalkeepers.
  • Participate in Academy methodology and operations meetings, contributing to discussions on training alignment, player development, and program evolution.
  • Support U13/U14 goalkeeper development by attending one evening training session per week, observing or coaching games when possible, mentoring the U13/U14 goalkeeper coach, and providing coverage as needed to ensure consistent methodology and high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with second team and first team goalkeeper coaches to align training methodology, discuss player development needs, and support pathway planning for Academy goalkeepers progressing toward professional levels.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) : Degree in Kinesiology, Sports Science, Coaching, Physical Education, or a related field preferred.
  • 6-8 years: Developing elite youth or collegiate/professional goalkeepers.
    Experience within a professional academy environment strongly preferred
  • Must be willing and able to travel; requires a reliable vehicle and clean driving record.
  • Strong team-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel with the ability to learn required business systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to think quickly, problem solve effectively and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with players, parents, coaches, and staff at all levels.
  • Knowledge of video analysis tools (Hudl, Sportscode, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods during training and matches.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry equipment (up to 50   lbs as needed).
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings and weekends consistent with Academy schedules.
  • Spanish proficiency preferred.

Payscale: $75,000 - $80,000

Bonus: This position is not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
