A Brief Overview

The Vice President, Accounting is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function within the division. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the development and implementation of effective accounting strategies and processes. The VP, Accounting will lead a team of accounting professionals and work closely with other senior finance & accounting team members to support the company's financial goals and objectives.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure efficient and effective financial operations. This would include conducting proper training of supporting team members and communicating such processes to business operators.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial information, ensuring compliance with GAAP and management reporting directives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. This would include establishing goals, objectives, and performance metrics for the accounting team, and fostering a collaborative working environment with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information, including the review of financial information prepared by supporting team members.
  • Partner with the division’s FP&A team and operational leadership to provide financial insights to support business growth, cost management / risk mitigation, and profitability.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks to protect company assets. This would include developing and implementing processes to ensure adherence to Company policies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement Company wide directives ensuring supporting team members accurately and effectively adopt new pronouncements.
  • Oversee audit testing (internal, external, and regulatory).

Education Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) (MBA Preferred) in Accounting, Finance or a related field

Experience Qualifications

  • 10+ years Related work experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Accounting background and experience in public accounting ("Big 4") preferred
  • Has experience leading, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Substantial industry-relevant leadership experience in dynamic, growing, and complex environments.
  • Experience with global companies with more than $200 million in revenue preferred.
  • Entertainment industry experience, including knowledge and basic business understanding of live entertainment or related businesses are highly preferred.
  • Experience developing intricate reports via Excel and other financial reporting systems, preferably JD Edwards
  • A detailed working understanding of complex computer systems/financial applications (i.e., JDEdwards, etc.) and financial consolidations
  • Ability to communicate with finance, accounting and operational executives effectively throughout the organization
  • Unquestioned integrity, results-oriented, strong interpersonal skills, positive can-do attitude
  • Accuracy, even when working under pressure in meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to see the big picture of things
  • Ability and willingness to analyze what is required and why, and constantly assess whether there is a better way to approach the project while achieving the same or more significant objective
  • Proven track record in modeling and transactional activity highly preferred
  • Effective communicator up and down organizationally, with proven ability to provide objective input while challenging assumptions during the day-to-day business decision-making process
  • Hands-on experience working with multiple companies/legal entities and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong technical skills with a thorough understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Licenses and Certifications

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Pay Scale: $164,068 - $220,000
