LA Galaxy Foundation Partners with Surfrider Foundation for a Beach Cleanup
As part of AEG’s LA Galaxy Protect the Pitch sustainability program, more than 250 LA Galaxy fans, supporters and Herbalife24 Triathlon L.A. participants traveled to Venice Beach to partake in a beach cleanup with Surfrider Foundation, a global nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and enjoy the world’s oceans and beaches, on Saturday, June 22.
Over the course of the morning, LA Galaxy volunteers collected more than 157 pounds of trash, 32.5 pounds of recycling and more than 4,000 cigarette buds.
Following the beach cleanup, volunteers enjoyed a social hour at Arbor Venice featuring cold beverages by Three Weavers and raffle prizes by Arbor Collective.
Protect the Pitch was launched in 2016 by AEG’s LA Galaxy and Dignity Health Sports Park. The initiative focuses on reducing the environmental impact of LA Galaxy games and practices at Dignity Health Sports Park, supporting environmental projects in the community, and inspiring fans to help create healthier, more sustainable communities.
