The first of three blood drives at Crypto.com Arena, the Jan. 6 the event marked the debut of the newly designed LA Kings Blood Mobile.
“The long-term relationship with the Los Angeles Kings has been extremely valuable for our operations, our staff, our patients and our families. With the support of the Kings, we have been able to maintain our blood supply throughout the entire length of the pandemic,” says Vaanush Nazaryan, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Quality Manager & Interim Manager, Transfusion Medicine. “This is quite remarkable given the national shortages being experienced by the American Red Cross and most of the medical centers in the United States. Our recent joint Bloodmobile Drives during King’s games have been remarkably successful and we are extremely grateful for the support being shown by the Kings fans.”
The Kings will host blood drives prior to home games at Crypto.com Arena on Jan. 13 and Jan. 20. from 12:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Donors who complete their donation will receive 2 tickets to the LA Kings game on the evening of their donation, 2 tickets to a future LA Kings game and an LA Kings stress puck. Each donor’s participation will have the potential to aid three CHLA patients in need.
“One of the first events I went to as a player when I joined the Kings was a visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, so to see the partnership last as long as has, and to see how it has grown, has been great,” said LA Kings President and Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille. “Giving blood is something that is pretty easy, and this year we are rewarding our fans by giving them tickets to a game. Make sure to register first and I encourage you to participate if you can.”
Fans are encouraged to sign up and to consult CHLA’s website to confirm they are eligible to donate: https://www.chla.org/blood-donor-center, as walk-ups cannot be accommodated.
