AEG Celebrates America Recycles Day
More than 35 AEG facilities-affiliated venues to participate in raising awareness about recycling
LOS ANGELES (November 16, 2017) - This week more than 35 AEG Facilities-affiliated arenas, stadiums, theaters, clubs and convention centers nationwide are celebrating America Recycles Day, a nationally-recognized event organized by Keep America Beautiful to promote recycling in the United States. Throughout the week, AEG venues will host a variety of events, from cell phone recycling drives to recycling awareness campaigns, to encourage guests, employees and community members to make recycling a part of their lives.
“AEG is committed to reducing its environmental impact through continued sustainable practices – including recycling,” said John Marler, AEG’s Vice President of Energy and Environment. “Through America Recycles Day, we are able to not only shine a spotlight on the importance of recycling, but help the communities around our venues dispose of items that can be hard to recycle, such as e-waste or clothing.”
The America Recycles Day activities organized by both AEG Facilities and AEG Presents-affiliated venues this year will include (but are not limited to) recycling drives in Los Angeles at STAPLES Center, Microsoft Theater, L.A. LIVE, in addition to Keswick Theatre in Philadelphia and the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu; partnerships with various nonprofit organizations and entities, such as Global Inheritance, Cellphones for Soldiers and the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection.
In addition, AEG’s LA Kings will team up with Global Inheritance to host a clothing drive on Nov. 16 prior to their game at STAPLES Center. LA Kings fans will be encouraged to recycle gently used clothing to benefit those in need. Specially designed LA Kings “Art of Recycling” collection bins, created by Jeremiah Garcia and Dart, will be located outside STAPLES Center at the Team LA Store. All donations will be met with a 20 percent-off coupon toward Renew, a clothing line made entirely from upcycled plastic bottles, which is sold at Team LA.
Celebrating America Recycles Day is just one element of AEG 1EARTH, AEG’s industry-leading corporate environmental sustainability program launched in 2007 and shortly after published the industry’s first sustainability report in 2010.
