LA Galaxy Player, Julian Araujo, Honored as Mayor's Community Athlete of the Year at 17th Annual LA Sports Awards
Julian Araujo, a soccer player for AEG’s LA Galaxy, received the Mayor’s Community Athlete of the Year Award from the LA Sports Council at the The 17th Annual LA Sports Awards, which celebrates the best in sports in greater Los Angeles. Araujo received the award for his outstanding work in the community.
“Julian has shown us that his generous heart is matched only by his determination to make a difference for people who are struggling,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Whether it is raising funds for the United Farm Workers Foundation or handing out gift cards and backpacks filled with food and face masks to students and farm workers in his home town of Lompoc, he makes a difference. Julian, you are an angel in our City of Angels, and we are so proud of all that you have accomplished. We are so excited to see you continue your great work on and off the field. So, on behalf of a grateful city, thank you, and congratulations on this well-deserved award.”
