JOB SUMMARY
AEG and the Ontario Reign are looking for an In-Arena Host. The Ontario Reign In-Arena Host will perform live in front of and entertain a large audience in structured time segments. This individual will communicate information clearly and effectively, engaging Ontario Reign fans while emceeing the live execution of game and event promotions to create a fun atmosphere while representing the Reign brand in a positive fashion at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Host live promotional opportunities and intermission activities at Ontario Reign home games and events. Keep fans engaged while reciting memorized structured copy, improvising with live audience, pumping up the crowd and conveying important information from sponsors.
- Assist and participate during rehearsals (soundchecks in-game promotions, intermission activities, etc.) while working with multiple departments for proper delivery of promotional items.
- Ensure all pre-game, in-game, and post-game entertainment, promotions, and activities are explained clearly and accurately to participants prior to the in-game execution of the promotions/activities. Ensure all promotions and activities are fun and engaging.
- Execute promotions within a specified timeline and ensure smooth transitions to other talent and promotions.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The In-Arena Host must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:
- Must be a strong team player and able to work with other talent, entertainers, production crew, Ice Crew, and stage managers
- Strong improvisational skills with the ability to conduct live interviews whether scripted or impromptu
- Ability to memorize scripted text
- Work in a live setting while remaining calm and on message while interacting with event guests of all ages including passionate sports fans
- Ability to multi-task, meet tight timelines, and work effectively in a high pressure and fast-paced environment
- Able to adhere to strict timing and be able to adjust pacing when needed
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize efficiently and quickly
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management, staff, guests, children, executives, celebrities, players, VIP’s, etc.
- Hockey and AHL experience preferred
- Ontario Reign knowledge and passion preferred
- Skating ability (hockey skates) is a plus, but not required
- IFB (Interruptible Foldback) experience a plus, but not required
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree preferred)
Experience:
- A minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience in live sports entertainment, TV/Film production, live event
Payscale: $30.00
Bonus: This position is not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
Benefits Part-time: This position may be eligible for benefits (ACA qualification).
